This assignment is best used when completing your unit on Non-Fiction writing. The intent of the assignment is to assess students in their reading, writing, research, and oral presentation skills.
The books should be read before completing the writing portion of the assignment. The books introduce the students to the topic and also provides them with some light background information. You can decide to have students read individually or with a partner. It is suggested they read with a partner to help prepare them for their oral presentation.
The writing portion of this assignment also includes a research component. It is recommended that students be taught how to look for actual facts and use proper web pages when conducting their research. Try demonstrating how do this with a proper Google search.
The presentation portion of this assignment can be done in many different ways. It can be written as a booklet, a collage poster, or via a multi-media presentation such as Google Slides or PowerPoint.
