These questions for this I Survived book are printed on a "30 labels for per page template." They can be printed on labels, or just on paper and cut apart. There is one (and sometimes two) thought-provoking questions for each chapter that have students writing about the main idea of the chapter, evaluating the character's actions, making predictions, explaining why something happened, comparing characters, etc. Most questions are open-ended and require students to explain their thinking and/or find evidence in the text to support their idea. This is perfect for small groups, literature studies, and even interactive read- alouds. Simply take the labels (or the cut apart slips) and add them to any style booklet that you choose. (I have found that using index cards and rings works the best.) Entire booklets can be made at one time, or students can receive the questions after reading each chapter so they can't use the questions to know what is coming up in the book. This is a great tool to get you students to open-up and begin to have conversations about what they are reading.
