I Wanna Iguana is a story about a little boy who wants an iguana. he writes letters to his mom trying to persuade her to let him get the iguana and she writes back explaining why his reasons aren't good enough. This activity lets kids relate the text to their life by picking a pet and writing a letter to a parent trying to persuade to let them get the pet. This includes a planning page, 2 letter format pages, a parent letter planning page and template, self rubric, and grading rubric.
This is not only a great lesson for kids to practice persuading, but also a great lesson for kids to understand 2 different points of view.
