Are you ready for a change in a book study?
Challenge and Excite your students . This study guide will do that by asking them to make choices and choose what activities they want to complete! Students will take ownership of their learning by exploring nine different activities that can be accomplished, researched, created, and implemented by reading this novel: I Will Always Write Back, by Caitlin Alfirenka and Martin Ganda with Liz Welch.
Letter writing is fast approaching a lost skill. Can you imagine a box of old letters in a dusty box with a ribbon tied around them? So precious and yet so fragile of memories they hold. Our students may never be able to relate to that experience. With electronic communications, the slow release of a hand written letter and the deeply personal touch it conveys is disappearing. We can help our students try to re-create those experiences!
Critical thinking skills, analytical skills, hand-eye coordination with the actual act of writing cursive will help zip your students into the 21st century yet retaining a touch of the past. Students will be challenged by researching topics of interest, and exploring those areas deeply by a completing an activity or series of activities. The research will broaden their schema and allow them a better understanding of cultures, geography, and communication of a pen pal exchange. They will be able to use reasoning and logical reasons for developing their own education plan. Completing the research topics and applying the knowledge to a project will help them become literate and well rounded as they will need to be attentive and creative! They will be organizing their data, answers, and arranging them in a logical and persuasive manner. Students will gather accurate date from their research, by using credible sources.
Activities to choose from will be arranged in a Tic Tac Toe board and students can pick three to make a straight line!
