I am Thankful for Activity

A great Thanksgiving Activity to help students hone in on all the things they are Thankful for. I often will do several examples as a class on a smart board (you and input the PDF into your smart note book). Then give the students time to work on finding one things they are thankful for that starts with each letter of the alphabet. I then allot time for students to share with their peers in small groups or as a whole class. I make sure to probe with questions such as "why are you thankful for...?" or "what makes ____ so special to you?"

This is an excellent class bonding activity and reminds the entire class how much they have to be thankful for. It also is a great way for kids to share what is more important to them.

I have extended this into a math graphing activity, where on the Smartboard we graph the most common responses to certain letters (e.g. you often get a lot of "mom" for the letter M)
