This I have, Who has was created using the 1st 25 words on the Frye word list.
This game is fun for beginning readers to practice sight words as well as helping their friends to realize the words in their hand. There are no winners or losers, just lots of of good reading fun.
Print, laminate, and cut out the game cards.
Distribute cards to how many players you have in your group. Make sure to distribute all the cards. Nothing can be left out or the loop will stop short of the finish line.
Pick any card to go first. The student reads the card and play will naturally continue as the students ask and answer the questions on their cards. I usually stop when we get back to the beginning.
Sometimes in class we play as a whole group and we set a timer to see how quickly we can get through the deck. Other times, small groups of children, 3-4 at a time, will play and they will each have several cards.
Let me know how your students like them.
