This game is intended for adult ESL classes studying reported speech. It features 12 cards that can be cut out and distributed to the class. The person with “I have the first card” reads that and then the following sentence, “I haven't looked at my phone.” Then, the person with the card reporting the speech “S/he said s/he hasn't looked at her/his phone...” reads their first sentence, followed by the second one. Play continues until “I have the last card” is read.
There are two sets of cards: one with feminine pronouns and another with masculine pronouns. There is also a list of possible discussion topics that could follow the activity, such as the changing of first person pronouns and backshifting of verb tenses common in reported speech.
