Teachers: This fun and engaging packet contains 34 task cards that can be printed, laminated and used again and again. The tasks are coded according to the International Baccalaureate’s attitudes and learner profile. They, of course, can be used with any curriculum.
They are designed for my 5th and 6th grade classes but can be adapted for 4th and 7th. There is one blank card to copy and create your own instructions or have the children create their own multi-step directions.
The point of these instructions is to have the kids practice following multi-step directions accurately and independently. They can be used as part of literacy centers, for early finishers or simply as a means to practice the concepts behind the vocabulary of the IB’s PYP. It is also a great back to school activity to reinforce the essential class agreements.
A lot of the tasks are promoting independent and critical thinking skills with the addition of communication skills. These tie in wonderfully with the trans-disciplinary skills of the PYP philosophy.
