**The preview file is a pdf version of all the slides for you to review before purchasing the real thing
This powerpoint presentation covers Topic 2.5 in the IB Biology
curriculum. Specifically, it covers cell division and the basic stages of mitosis.
Each slide is labelled with the specific learning objective and animation/video links are provided in the slide notes. The slides are formatted to print well for handouts or revision and I can provide a pdf version upon request.
As always, please let me know if you have any suggestions for
improvements. These are always a work in progress!
**IB Biology Learning Objectives:
2.5.1 – Outline the stages in the cell cycle including interphase (G1, S, G2), mitosis and cytokinesis
2.5.2 – State that tumours (cancers) are the result of uncontrolled in cell division and that these can occur in any organ or tissue
2.5.3 – State that interphase is an active period in the life of a cell when many metabolic reactions occur, including protein synthesis, DNA replication and an increase in the number of mitochondria and/or chloroplasts.
2.5.4 – Describe the events that occur in the four phases of mitosis (prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase)
2.5.5 – Explain how mitosis produces two genetically identical
