A simple timeline exercise that asks students to research and place the key events of Mussolini's rise to power on a timeline. Students participate in a teacher-led discussion where they work in small groups to label the timeline items as either legal or illegal methods. The class period ends with a discussion about which type of methods were more useful to Mussolini in his rise to power in Italy. The activity was originally designed for a combined IB HL/SL class but it could easily be adapted and used with other grade levels. The handout also includes web links that students can use as resources.
