Description

Are you scrambling to put together units for distance learning?  Here is a unit that will help give you some breathing room.  This unit has seven 45 minute lessons that build toward an assessment of the NGSS HS-LS1-2 standard.  The final assessment utilizes the International Baccalaureate Criteria A and contains a task specific rubric normed for this assessment.  This unit contains all of the formative assessments needed in order to prepare a student for the summative task.  Best of all, this unit is fully integrated for the google platform and can easily be implemented as a distance learning unit.  My students have had a lot of success with this unit and it has led to a number of fun discussions via zoom.  I’m happy to share this with you and hope that you see the same increase in engagement that I had.

NGSSHS-LS1-2
Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchical organization of interacting systems that provide specific functions within multicellular organisms. Emphasis is on functions at the organism system level such as nutrient uptake, water delivery, and organism movement in response to neural stimuli. An example of an interacting system could be an artery depending on the proper function of elastic tissue and smooth muscle to regulate and deliver the proper amount of blood within the circulatory system. Assessment does not include interactions and functions at the molecular or chemical reaction level.
