These reproducible coupons are intended as a reward for positive behaviour and showing the attitudes within the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme. They can of course be used with any class as a rewards system.
The cards are designed to be copied, laminated and cut. I like to group them according to certain attitudes and have included labels to stick onto small containers. The children go to the container displaying the attitude that they are being rewarded with, pull out a coupon and announce their reward the teacher. I have used this reward system with 3rd,4th and 5th grade students successfully.
I have also used it as a spontaneous reward where, if I need to promote cooperation in the classroom, then I will walk around with the “Cooperation, Commitment and Curiosity” box and hand out coupons to those who are displaying that particular attitude at that moment.
It is a great community building rewards system which develops positive attitudes in the children and reinforces the language within the PYP.
