Excellent resource for New IB Teachers and IB Veterans!
Especially if you are new to IB, it feels like learning a second language – for both you and your students. These cards are designed to be easy to use in a variety of ways. They work well with your own IB posters and materials or you can purchase mine. I have created IB PYP Flap-Books for Attitudes and Learner Profile Attributes which include definitions and IB PYP Key Concept posters. How to Use:
Print and laminate cards before cutting out for durability.
Teacher Reference: Sort cards to support your current Transdisciplinary Theme and Central Idea referring to them as you teach. Great for verbal exit ticket questioning and shoulder partner discussions.
Whole Group / Partner Informational Scavenger Hunt: Use all or most cards and pass out one to each student, leaving the rest on a common table. Give partners time to find the answers, whether posted on your wall or in their Inquiry Notebook (referring to my IB PYP Flap-Books). Partners find answers, then they trade their cards for two new ones from the table. After about 15 – 20 minutes do a whole group review pulling selected cards.
Teacher Tip: Make a class set of a selected card and have students glue into their notebook. Then students can write definitions as you introduce them or write their own reflection as it applies to current topics (meaningful student action).
