Social Story for "Quality Work" *(What quality work looks like? & How will I know if I am doing quality work?)
Teacher Note: I developed this IEP goal and procedure for those students who rush through their assignments (they just want to get it done!), who do not read or listen to directions carefully, make lots of errors and who produce illegible written responses.I was constantly saying to parents at conferences, IEP meetings and via quarterly progress notes that their child rushes through their work and makes careless errors BUT I wasn't explicitly teaching the student how to self-monitor and self-evaluate, the executive functioning skill of metacognition. Through the "Quality Work" Checklist and "Quality Work" Rubrics for student and teacher, I felt like I was giving my students the tools to be more successful as well as the data for me to measure their progress.
I pick 4 assignments weekly for students to utilize the "Quality Work" student rubric and for me to collect data. I complete the "Quality Work" teacher rubric as well to compare scores with student.
