Perfect worksheet to introduce students to their own IEP plans. Start making your students self advocate for themselves. The Do Now includes a passage written about IEP's and students answer 2 questions including analyzing the main idea of the passage and reading for context clues about what members make a IEP team. This do now is done similarly to state test questions the students have taken in the past. The second page of the document is an independent activity where students answer questions based from the IEP. The teacher must give the students a copy of their IEP documents and encourage students to work independently. Remind students that the material contained in their IEP in private information and not to be shared with others. Also speak to students about being accountable for their own education and to be familiar with things like their IEP goals for the year and testing accommodations.
*Always collect the IEP documents back from students and keep them locked away as per state confidentiality laws.
