This is a rubric that could potentially be used as a progress monitoring tool for a student's writing portion of his/her IEP.
Directions: Student will be given a topic about which to write a minimum of a five-sentence paragraph. The student is welcome to write more than five sentences. If the student writes more than one paragraph, the first paragraph of the writing will be used for evaluation. This writing is to be untimed and typed. The student will be shown this rubric before he/she begins to write in order to remind him or her of the criteria. When the student says he/she is finished, he/she will be reminded again of the rubric and given a chance to correct anything he/she wishes.
