INEQUALITIES - X-scape Activity
FUN FOR HALLOWEEN! - dress like a pirate!
The premise for this escape room is “Xscape the UNDEFINED - a pirate adventure”
Students find themselves on a pirate ship with the threat of torture if they cannot solve the problems, discover the codes and escape. There is no mention of what the torture is … perhaps the threat of extra homework … add an evil waahaaahaa laugh for effect.
This activity includes 20 questions organized within five tasks.
Students are challenged to answer the questions and then use their answers to discover a code in order to proceed.
The activity includes an online element (optional) which does not require log in - just internet access. Students can use phones, tablets, or computers. They will enter their codes to escape the evil Captain of the ship, the Undefined.!
There is minimum prep on your part just print, cut and package the cards; the kinds of things you do all the time. Most of the work is done by students as they work together to solve problems and puzzles. You can monitor, observe, and help as needed. There are hint cards that students can use if you want to include them.
I don’t know what else to tell you other than - this is FUN.
And learning in disguise!
PLUS your kids will love the challenge!
The questions for each task include the following topics
challenge 1 - solving and graphing one variable inequalities
challenge 2- interpreting inequalities (one variable/ verbal to algebraic)
challenge 3 - logical Reasoning with symbols
challenge 4 - applications of inequalities
challenge 5 - compound inequalities (including applications)
