I have always thought learning and studying Greek and Latin roots was helpful in decoding definitions of unknown words. This lesson has been designed to identify Inference via using Context Clues in sentence structures; thus, allowing the learner to practice two skills in unison. The selected vocabulary words reflect the correct use of Greek and Latin roots. Students will enjoy using these Inference Task Cards in Literary Centers, as Bell Ringers, in Cohort settings, or however you select to challenge them. The enclosed set contains 10 cards. Each card contains four vocabulary words for a total of 40 words. The student’s task is to select the correct definition from the definition bank that fits the meaning of the sentence correctly. These cards might be better suited when used with upper elementary to high school students. Cards can be enlarged and duplicated to meet your classroom needs. Answer sheet cards have been included for your convenience.
