TO THE TEACHER
There are many ways to practice the skill of Inference. This lesson has been designed to identify Inference via using Context Clues in sentence structures; thus, allowing the learner to practice two skills in unison. Students will enjoy using these Inference Task Cards in Literary Centers, as Bell Ringers, in Cohort settings, or however you select to challenge them. The enclosed set contains five cards. Each card contains four vocabulary words for a total of 20 words. On each card, you will find sentences with an underlined vocabulary word. The student’s task is to select the correct definition from the definition bank that fits the meaning of the sentence correctly. These cards might be better suited when used with middle and high school students. Cards can be enlarged and duplicated to meet your classroom needs. An answer sheet has been included for the teacher and the students. I have also included a class set of words with definitions for display or as a word wall.
