THE TEXT: A letter from Principal Price
In this lesson, students have to closely analyze a letter from a principal to parents. In this letter, the writer very subtly conveys a stern, but extremely diplomatic message. Students have to analyze the language in order to decipher this underlying point.

LANGUAGE, GRAMMAR & VOCABULARY
This one-page graphic organizer helps students with a close reading of the linguistic features of the letter - there are exercises here to help students analyze the techniques of persuasion used, word choice analysis and grammar questions.
