The INQUIRY ROAD JOURNAL can provide a framework for students to use when engaging in an inquiry process. The product can be used as individual journals or enlarged to poster size for whole class or small group modeling of how to prepare, record and reflect on an inquiry process.
Subject links: Any subject, topic, skill or understanding being taught through an inquiry process.
Included in the resource:
• Two initial pages for planning, thinking processes and activating prior knowledge
• A page for each step in Inquiry Road model, that includes a section for reflecting on the skills and attitudes used or needed at this stage of the inquiry.
Inquiry journals are a great tool for scaffolding an inquiry, while leaving room for student agency in the process.
This journal has been developed around the Inquiry Road model, inviting students to consider the different choices they can make during an inquiry.
The journal can be printed in A4 size or the pages can be printed on A3 or in poster size and used to model the process to a whole class or smaller group. Students can then use this modelling experience to adapt and create their own resource journal.
