This powerpoint goes with the free downloadable worksheet also listed in my products. Below is a brief description from that free sheet.
You are downloading internet safety discussion questions that I use with my library classes in grades 3-5. The questions could be used in middle school also, but the language is geared toward 3rd-5th graders.
STEP 1: I give a pre-survey the first week of school using these questions and an online survey site.
STEP 2: We discuss the issues mentioned in the questions throughout the year.
STEP 3: Toward the end of the year I distribute this sheet, break students into groups, and assign each group 4 questions. Some questions overlap, but that is okay.
STEP 4: One period--I only have 37 minutes- the groups discuss and write answers.
STEP 5: A second period, I use the powerpoint I have for sale--$4.00--to put the questions on the screen. I have all groups respond. I give 4 questions; there are 4 seats at each of my tables. Each student must be the speaker for 1 of the questions.
STEP 6: After each group assigned the questions responds, I then reveal my answer and verbally add on if necessary. Students may also have questions that require answers.
STEP 7: I again give the online survey to see what students have gained and learned throughout the year and as a result of our class activities and discussions.
This powerpoint is excellent for teaching internet safety. My husband is the Director of Technology for the district where I teach. I had him review this powerpoint to make sure I hit essential points for students. Each slide is animated and includes transitions. I first have students cooperatively complete the free downloadable sheet. I give them time to share and discuss before we turn to the powerpoint.
