My 5th graders really enjoy this hands-on approach to measuring volume. This lesson gives your students practice filling boxes with one inch wooden cubes to determine volume then guides them toward using measurements to calculate volume.
Included in the download is a detailed lesson, box assembly instructions, a recording sheet, two worksheets, ten boxes and an answer key. Lesson prep includes printing, cutting and assembling enough boxes for your class. In addition, you will need at least 20 wooden blocks for each group of 2-4 students.
