Of the four language-performance skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening, speaking is the most useful, and least practiced, skill.
Kylie Pinkerton, Bonnie Chichester, and Holly Durham have designed these Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs) for students grades 7-10 as fun, scaffolded, interactive, and interpersonal speaking projects, to be completed at the end of a unit.
Each IPA includes:
-A speaking rubric
-An icon denoting pair or group work
-ACTFL-based "Can Do" statements
-Authentic materials to guide learning
Especially great if you are using the Avancemos textbooks Levels 1 and 2, as they are seamlessly paired with, and adapted from, the "repasos" at the end of each unit. Created for Spanish but easily adaptable to any World Language by changing the useful vocabulary.
