Just combine this with your favorite review game activity and you have the perfect way to practice beginning sounds that follow the format of IREAD-3.
Beginning sounds is an important phonemic awareness skill in reading. In Indiana, all third grade students must take and pass the IREAD-3 reading assessment. This is a fun way to practice beginning sounds and the best part is it can reduce testing anxiety for IREAD-3.
This activity is designed for whole group settings or in small groups, to practice skills and help students to become very familiar with what they will experience during IREAD 3. It is particularly useful for students with disabilities. I have had great success using this with my students.
This download includes review cards that cover the sounds /cl/, /cr/, /st/, /sl/.
The cards are numbered and a teacher sheet gives a list of words that can be used when dictating to students.
