Last updated: January 9, 2018: Note # 1: I am an award winning, recently retired HS global studies teacher, now teaching in the Political Science Dept. of URI, and the Education Dept. of Salve Regina. Hence, I feel that I know my content well, and I also know a lot of successful teaching strategies which assist me in conveying said content. (See my profile)
Note # 2: I also have a longer, more comprehensive version in my store. It includes a 118 slide power point, and 2 files which include notes, a test and some other documents.. This, shortened version, has half the amount of slides.
This power point on ISIS will not focus on all the atrocities committed by ISIS, although there are a few graphic images. Rather, it will focus on the goals and motivations of ISIS, on whether they are, indeed, Muslims, and on US foreign policy options regarding ISIS.
There are info slides, map slides, chart slides and political cartoons affording the students the opportunity to decipher the info in groups.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to debate US policy options towards ISIL.
I also include 4 sides of notes that correspond to the power point.
