I tutor students with learning disabilities and ones that are just having difficulty learning. I find that they need more practice and wrote these stories in the progression of what they are learning in intensive phonics.
These stories are is the second set of stories in Series 1 already found in my store. Each story is made up of short and long vowel words, blends, and sight words. The sight word list used by intensive phonics is shorter than many other sight word lists. The last two stories are of mixed short and long vowel words with sight words. There are ten stories. There are purposely no pictures to lower the amount of guessing that comes with pictures. The pictures distract many of my students.
Students should already know the sounds of the letters of the alphabet and be able to blend words, no matter the speed that they do it with. It is the repeated practice of reading stories within their ability that helps students to improve. They do not advance until after they stop struggling with these words.
Each story is two thirds to a full page long in Comic Sans font, size 16. Each story has 10 to 14 comprehension questions with it. Answers are provided on the same page with the questions, after each story.
I hope these are of a help to you as you work with your students. I welcome your feedback is welcome!
You have permission to use these stories for your students only, year after year. They may not be shared with anyone else or published in any other form without permission from the author.
