Product Description
This is a great Common Core Literacy and Writing activity that has students read one of the best primary sources of the Medieval era!

First, students read Ibn Battuta's diaries about his fascinating travel experiences through Africa. Then, students can either write a travel blog detailing his journey, or create questions and answers for a FACETIME interview on an iPad paper template. This activity is student centered and Common Core! Students analyze the text by providing evidence to support claims about his experiences.

Both activities have students focus on key concepts of geography, economy and social classes that will reinforce critical thinking skills throughout the year.

An answer key is included!
