Product Description
This is now a 900+ slide Interactive PowerPoint presentation with built-in class notes (red slides), built-in questions followed by answers, built-in activities with instructions, questions, worksheets, links to videos, flashcards, crossword puzzle, and concludes with a 1-25, 150 slide PowerPoint Review Game that is a fantastic review of the entire PowerPoint. A four page homework / classwork bundle with answer key, lesson notes with visuals and much more chronologically follow the lesson bundle. This unit is one my favorites all year and will make a great addition to any earth science class.

This lesson is one small part of my weathering, soil science, soil conservation, ice-ages, and glaciers unit.
Weathering, Soil Science, Soil Conservation, Ice Ages, Glaciers Unit

This PowerPoint begins with a picture of a Glacial Erratic boulder right next to a very large cliff on a slope. The question is posed to the class "How did this rock get here?" Most reply with it rolled down the hill etc. This leads into glaciers and ice ages and the lesson ahead. A description with step by step drawing shows the rock being moved slowly by the glacier, and as the glacier begins to melt the boulder comes to rest softly on the side of the cliff. Glaciers are then described in a red slide (critical notes), as well as the two types of glaciers (continental, and alpine) Pictures are shown of each. Crevasses are shown and described. A link to really wild video that shows a glacier breaking apart into the water is provided. A large chunk falls off and causes a large wave which crashes over running spectators (Crazy). A iceberg is then shown and a reference to the phrase "only the tip of the iceberg" shows the iceberg beneath the waterline. Ice Ages are then focused on, and students make a rough sketch in their journal / notebook of North America. They then pencil in the ice sheet that covered most of the northern portion of the continent during largest extent of the last ice age. An Ice Age is defined in a red slide. A neat reference to the classroom 35,000 years ago is made (If you teach in area that wasn't under the ice just erase the slide) Decrease in sea-level is then described and a reference to Early Clovis Hunters and the land bridge is made. A neat portion of the PowerPoint is dedicated to Paleoecology and many cool animals are shared. This is followed by pictures of glacial retreat over the last several years and a reference to climate change is made. A question is asked to the class to brainstorm why Ice Ages occur? Theories are then presented in a step by step process. Students are just asked to record the simplest parts to the theory which are highlighted in red. A PowerPoint Review Game with answers (1-25 concludes the PowerPoint that is a fantastic resource). This is a really neat PowerPoint that your students are really going to enjoy.

This PowerPoint includes critical notes (Red Slides), exciting visuals, challenge questions, activities with directions and more. Text is usually placed at the top of the slide so it can be read from all angles of a classroom. Color coded slides, as well as a shade technique is used to increase student focus and allows the teacher to control the pace of the lesson. These PowerPoints are meant to be as interactive as possible and ask many questions, provide built-in opportunity to review material, explain directions to activities, and much more.
