I love modifying this bingo sheet for the beginning of the school year or after a long holiday break. It's a nice way for students to chat - especially for 9th graders who may be new to a school environment. *It works well if you modify the squares for your city or school community.
Have students sign the squares - one name per square and talk about the square (this should stimulate conversation). After Bingo is called (I make them do a cover-all). I ask students, one of the prompts: "Who knows someone who plays a musical instrument?" and when students volunteer, they explain who they know and what they play/do. I have also asked the whole class to raise their hands after a prompt - just to break up the types of responses. Enjoy getting to know your students!
