Students use this google map to set up appointments all over Washington, DC with their classmates at the beginning of the year. Then when they walk in on any given Monday you as the teacher shout out... "Today we are meeting at the Washington Monument!" and they know exactly which partner they are working with. No more scrambling to find a partner. This is a great ice breaker and a way to get kids to mix up early on. I ask them to make a partner that has the same color shoes or different color eyes. It works! While they search for partners I can even give them a tour of the city.
