Kids love this game of sorting animals based on where they live (farm, water, forest, zoo) or distinctive feature. Some animals could occur in more than one category and this is a good opportunity to discuss why that animal could belong in more than one category.
To Make: Print off the pages in the activity on cardstock and laminate everything. Cut out the cones and the ice cream scoops. I will put the magnetic tape on the back of both the cones and the ice cream scoops so that they will stick to whiteboards and metal surfaces.
To Play: Pick the cones (categories) that you would like to sort by. Pick out the corresponding ice cream scoops. Have the child(ren) pick out a scoop and place it on the cone (category). Alternatively, I will also talk about more, less, and most once the children have finished making the ice cream cones.
☆ 12 Cones
