A hands-on project to provide an opportunity for your student to experiment and practice using figurative language, descriptive words, adjectives, strong verbs, and -ly adverbs to make their descriptions strong. Cut out the ice cream cone templates and staple together. Then lift each flap and write down words and phrases to describe the way an ice cream cone tastes, looks, sounds, feels, and smells. Glue large ice cream cone onto writing assignment and use as a reference as students compose a descriptive writing piece about ice cream cones. Two writing assignment templates included: One with guided handwriting lines for younger writers and one with regular lines for older students.
