Product Description
This activity is an interactive flipchart for Activinspire. This flipchart will help students develop word study knowledge, CAP skills, phonics & phonemic awareness skills, decoding skills, fluency skills, some counting, some number recognition, and sorting knowledge. This flipchart includes different activities to do throughout the week. Here is how I use the poem in my classroom:

Monday: Introduce the poem by reading it to your class and explaining it.
Tuesday: Echo read the poem with the class and then work on the “Find the First Sound” activity. Students will practice their knowledge of phonemic awareness by identifying which sound a word begins with.
Wednesday: Read the poem with the class and then find the rhyming words in the poem. Then you can play “Ice Cream Memory” whole group (or let students play in partnerships/small group). The memory game includes cards for students to practice: sight words ‘I’ and ‘you’, lower case ‘i’ recognition, number recognition (1 – 3) as well as counting 1 – 3.
Thursday: As you read the poem figure out the missing words (they are hidden). Then you can practice sorting ice cream cones in different ways with your class.
Friday: Students read the poem and then find the "power words." Then you can print out the poem and give it to students to glue in a poetry folder. When my students glue the poem in their folders I direct them to: read the poem (extra spaces are between the words to help students track better), circle the power words we found together, illustrate the poem, and then label their picture.
A printable version of the poem is included.

Each activity comes with directions. When you are navigating through the flipchart your will see an image of a post-it note in the top right corner. Click on the post-it note and directions for the page will appear.
You will need to download a free font for this flipchart. For the interactive tools to line up and work accurately you will need to download the free font, “KG Miss Kindergarten”. You can find it here:
