This activity utilizes the Scientific Method to study changing states of matter. It is designed for third grade and up, but could also be used with younger students with modeling. Students will act as scientists, asking the question "what happens to matter when it freezes?"

This is a great as either a culminating activity for a small unit, or used with a series of other experiments when studying changing states of matter.
My students practically bounce off the walls when they hear we are doing this project! Be prepared for a slightly messy, but also highly engaging activity that will permanently etch "States of Matter" into student memory!
