This get-to-know-you activity starts out as a typical "Find Someone Who" kind of activity, but it ends with a twist that will help you start to build relationships with your students.
I do this activity on Day 1 or 2 to start building relationships.
The directions are included on the sheet, and it has two copies per sheet. Students are given their 1/2 sheet activity, and the directions are read with them. When the music begins, they get up and move around to find someone who sees a box that is true of them (e.g., has a dog, likes Chick Fil A, etc.) where they will write their first name. Their goal is to fill up all the boxes before the song ends. When the music stops, they sit down and we go over what we've learned about each other. I stress that this proves they all have more in common with each other than they realize, and the shocker is that everything on the list is actually true of ME - so they also have a lot in common with me as well. They are very excited to then read through the boxes to learn more about me and what they have in common with me. They find this fascinating!
Accomplishments: the kids get to move and talk, they realize they have connections with their classmates, and I've shared information about myself without boring them...all in just 10 minutes!
This is a word document so you can change the content in the boxes to what is true of YOU! Have fun!
