A game of 32 THIS or THAT cards. Use as an icebreaker to get students comfortable thinking and talking with a partner or in a small group. Students decide if they like being alone or with others, if they like hula-hoop more than jump rope, or if they like skateboarding more than biking, or if they like soft candy more than hard candy. Use on the first day of school or with a new rotation. Fun. NO grading. Take a look at the Preview to see sample cards.
How to play: Hand each group this one-sided packet to cut apart. Students turn over the cards and take turns pulling one card and responding to the prompt. No embarrassing questions and no wrong answers. Students share their choice and then explain why they prefer one thing over another.
