    Description

Here's a complete unit for Middle School students on how to how to analyze how and why characters and ideas develop and interact over the course of a text (R.CCR.3)! It includes everything the teacher needs to Teach, Reteach & Enrich with built-in differentiation!

All the work is done! Just make the copies and teach!

    What's included:

    TEACH:

★ EDITABLE lesson plans (in bonus file)

★ Day-by-Day Teacher Script (in bonus file)

★ Introduction to the unit (in bonus file)

    ★ Vocabulary sheets

    ★ Word Wall Cards

    ★ Dominoes Game

    ★ Graphic organizers

★ Pixanotes (structured interactive notes) that teach 4 steps to using text structures presented in 4 versions each with a different level of scaffolding. (differentiated content)

    >>You can see how to use Pixanotes with a FREE video by clicking here!<<

★ PowerPoint that matches the notes

★ Links to the text set of "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl and "High Court Review Insanity-Defense Case" by Nina Tottenberg for use with the notes and the processing task cards.

NOTE: The texts are at a slightly higher level than the grade levels for which these plans and activities are intended. This is because research has shown that texts with a little bit of a challenge is important if reading growth is expected. So while the texts may be a bit more challenging for a regular 6th grader, it is definitely within reach with some scaffolding. However, they are right on target for 7th and 8th graders. I think students will see it as a compliment when they are trusted with a more rigorous text.

★ Processing task cards so students can practice what they've learned (differentiated processing)

    ★ Quiz

    ★ Answer Keys

    RETEACH:

★ Enhancement Menu for students who scored less than 80% on the quiz and need more practice. (differentiated products)

    ★ Matching organizers

★ A video to use for reteaching that can be placed on any school password protected learning management system like Google Classroom or Canvas.

    ENRICH:

★ Enrichment Menu for student who scored 80% or better (differentiated products)

    ★ Matching materials

Using this Teach*Reteach*Enrich system is a 'Smart' way to teach because it helps to reach all learners! Now differentiation is easy!

★ BONUS: Final Assessment that assesses both fiction and nonfiction

I hope this helps you teach your students how to trace the development of characters and ideas in a text!
