With a partner, students will be creating a map of their ideal school. They are going to design the school buildings, classrooms, fields, and any extras that they think would make a great school (a pool, perhaps?). They must also design the school schedule. When they are finished, they will present their ideal school to the class.
I have students complete this activity to reinforce school vocabulary, telling time, and presentation skills. The project description and rubric are included with the assignment. I take my classes on a tour of our school in order to introduce them to the vocabulary, so this is an assignment that they complete to finish the unit.
This activity could be adapted to suit other languages or ELL, as well.
