The following document is a card sort activity with an accountability sheet. Students will sort the cards into the corresponding quadrant on the coordinate plane. Cards also use language specific to mapping point on the coordinate plane in addition to graphing points.
6.(11) Measurement and data. The student applies mathematical process standards to use coordinate geometry to identify locations on a plane. The student is expected to graph points in all four quadrants using ordered pairs of rational numbers.
Understand signs of numbers in ordered pairs as indicating locations in quadrants of the coordinate plane; recognize that when two ordered pairs differ only by signs, the locations of the points are related by reflections across one or both axes.
