Based on the Orton-Gillingham system, this product contains a complete lesson plan and all the materials you need to teach your students about Closed Syllables. Use the letter cards to demonstrate words that are closed or not closed. Use the interactive houses to create a visual--when the door is closed (the word has a consonant that closes in the vowel), the word is closed. Encourage student participation by having them hold up Closed and Not cards as you build words on the board. During guided practice, students sort word cards as closed syllables or words that are not closed. Give your students one of three independent practice sheets to assess their understanding.
