I was tired of trying to do simple +/- data on identifying emotions. Simply memorizing the labels for the pictures didn't seem like enough. This is a matrix or rubric to use when teaching emotions to elementary/middle school students. It is comprehensive and includes the student's ability, from a picture, to label complex emotions, give details to support their label, explore the feelings and sensations that come with the labelled emotion, and describe a situation in which that emotion might be felt.
Conversely, it might also be used as an activity to help students in creative or narrative writing, to use more descriptions rather than just the feeling words.
