Product Description
This mini bundle is part of 4.NF.5, Identifying Equivalent Fractions Of Decimal Fractions. The 'Decimal Fractions PowerPoint' that is included covers all of NF.5. It includes looking at where decimal fractions are found in every day life, in the place value chart, how to find the equivalent fractions of decimal fractions, how to represent them visually in 10's and 100's grid, number lines, fraction circles and how to add decimal fractions.

All the slides from the PowerPoints can be printed to make wall charts or mini booklets.

Why Not Save Even More! – this mini bundle is a part of the Full 4.N.F.5 Bundle, 5 Lesson Plans, 25 Individual Resources, all for under \$20

I have purposely created all of my resources from the ground up to specifically cover the required standards, and I incorporate math language, deeper thinking discussions and connections to the real world in most of the lessons. My manipulatives (hands on activities) give student the ability to see math visually and mentally as well as touch the materials used in math.

Each Lesson Plan includes the CCSS, the Mathematical Practices used in this lesson, the objectives, the "I can statements" for the children, PowerPoint to teach or revise from, an introduction to the lesson, the whole class lesson which will always include manipulatives, independent work in the shape of practice sheets, reflective journal entry, and a fast finishers activity or game, most often a game. Resources can also be easily converted into math centers.

You will never run out of something to keep your students occupied and motivated. I will always include more! I had to always look for something more to supplement the lesson, usually when my school wanted to use text books and that's why I fill my lessons up with lots of resources! Busy minds, happy class!

In addition to one Comprehensive Lesson Plan, this mini bundle includes the following 7 resources:

Decimal Fractions PowerPoint
This PowerPoint covers all of NF.5. It begins by looking at where decimal fraction can be found on the place value chart and how to find equivalent fraction for decimal fractions. The ppt explains why they are equivalent and step by step of how to find the equivalents. All the slides from the PowerPoint can be printed to make wall charts or mini booklets.

Identifying Decimal Fractions Gallery Walk - 4th Grade Fractions (4.NF.5)
The purpose of this activity is to encourage the students to thinking about decimal fractions with the aid of specific questions.

The students walk around the room evaluating and thinking about whether a question is true or false. During or after the walk the students complete a sheet with the same questions, they then have a debriefing time with the teacher (Suggested questions are included) and then students place the decimal fractions on number lines.

Finding Equivalent fractions in Decimal Fractions Worksheet (4.NF.5)
This worksheet asks the students to circle the matching equivalent fraction and to draw, write and name the equivalent fractions. Answer Key included.

Decimal Fractions - Snap Activity - 4th Grade Fractions (4.NF.5)
This is an activity that can involve the whole class or played in pairs. The students need to be able to quickly identify the decimal fractions and state their equivalent counterpart.
I ask the students to form two lines and then flip a decimal fraction card and the leaders have to answer with an equivalent fraction. The first one to answer correctly win that round and they stay at the front of the line and compete against the next student. It is a fun twist on the simple game of snap.

Bingo - Decimal Fractions Game (4.N.F.5)
For the students to play this game they need to know what each decimal fraction looks like as a fraction, in words, as a 10's grid, as a 100's grid and as an equivalent decimal fraction. There are 4 different cards for the students to play with.
This resource presents children with an opportunity to practice, learn and explore their understanding of decimal fractions in a fun, collaborative, and interactive way.

Anecdotal Observation Sheet for Fractions
There are two per page and each anecdotal note contains the standard as a reference. Photocopy one for each student, staple together and then next time they are completing a task that meets all the requirements of standard 4.NF.5 record your observation and then use this information in your reports. I would often take a photo of the students working and attach this to the anecdotal sheet also.

Reflective Math Journal Sheet
The reflective journal sheet asks the students to reflect on what they have learnt today in their math lesson. They are asked to use words or drawings to explain their thinking and a second question that asks them what they will remember to take into their next math lesson.
Getting into the habit of asking the students to spend 5 minutes completing this sheet may be hard but incredibly rewarding once they are used to doing the task. Use it as an exit pass. :)
The information you will be able to get from them will be very valuable and it will make report writing easier.

The PowerPoint presentation included in this bundle includes transitions and is fully editable, so you can make any changes that you wish. In order to view this file you will need the Fonts below, all are free and you can download them via the links below:
