Use these 112 task cards for practice comprehending, analyzing, and identifying types of figurative language: simile, metaphor, idiom, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, and alliteration. Each card has a quote from one of the following books: Al Capone Does My Shirts, The Barcode Tattoo, Wonder, Out of the Dust, The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, and One For the Murphys. I laminated mine and put velcro on them so students can show their answers. You could also have students write their answers. I included both the strips with the types of figurative language to use with velcro and answer sheets for students. I provided an answer key as well.
