-28 cards with different fractions with colorful background and the same cards with a white background to save ink.
-Directions for play and adaptation
This activity is great for all learners! They are seeing picture and numeral fractions, as well as hearing the fractions, and they are manipulating the cards. Students have to listen carefully and speak loudly for the game to work.
These 28 cards contain fractions with denominators 1-12. This is a good activity for identifying fractions from a picture and knowing what they look like as numbers. A great practice, review or filler activity that your students will want to do again and again!
How to Play:
Give each student at least one card and make sure all cards are given out. The person whose card says start reads their card. Whoever has the answer then reads that card and so on and so on until you reach the end. If you have a smaller class and each student has more than one card, after they read their card, have them flip it over. This helps them focus and you will now how many cards are left in play.
I also use this as an independent/small group activity where students get the stack and make a circle or line with the cards putting them in order by answer.
