Product Description
Students can explore in groups to identify parts of an expressions. Utilizing color coded cards, students can discuss with their classmates what the different colors represent (i.e. terms, variables, coefficients and constants). A word bank is supplied as a possible modification for students who need support. An extension activity of determining like terms is also explained on the teacher page. The color coding allows students to come up with their own explanation for what the parts have in common, which will lead to internalization of the meaning of the words once the vocabulary words are given so the class can speak about them with common language. Modification ideas are provided, along with a word bank. There is also an extension activity idea included in which students rearrange the cards to combine like terms. This activity is hands on and will work for all ability levels. It is a great way for students to discover a concept as opposed to being told the information.
