Identifying the value of a digit in a number is key to helping students understand number sense. Each of the 24 task cards has an underlined number for the student to identify the value of the number. For example, if the number is 1,235 and the 5 is underlined, the student will need to identify the value as "five."
The cards may be printed on cardstock and laminated. They are designed to be hung around the classroom or learning area for the students to find and answer. They can also be placed on a ring or put in a math center folder. Task cards are an excellent tool for many uses in a math classroom.
Two different versions of the student recording sheet have also been provided. One version contains two recording sheets (to save on printing). The other version is a full sheet. These can be used for a formative or summative assessment.
An answer key has been provided to help with grading the answers if you wish to use this as a formative or summative assessment.
