This is a series of worksheets that uses Kendrick Lamar lyrics to teach the concept of simile and metaphor. The first worksheet asks students to classify lyrics as either simile or metaphor. The second page focuses only on similes and asks students to identify the two things being compared in each lyric, with space for students to explain what the simile means in their own words. The third worksheet focuses only on metaphors. Students are asked to identify what is being compared and to explain the metaphor in their own words. This is a great way to teach the concept of figurative language using rap music, a musical genre that is familiar to most students. This printable worksheet can be used as part of a unit on poetry, music, figurative language, or cultural studies. All lyrics are appropriate for the classroom.
