This is a set of 24 task cards designed to give students practice at writing ratios to match a picture. Some cards ask for a quantity to be compared to another partial quantity and others compare to the whole set.
I made these to use with 5th grade students who need practice in ordering the numbers correctly in a ratio, and in locating equivalent ratios to match a situation. Ratios are written in 3 different formats (x:y, x to y, and as a fraction) and some are presented in simplest form. Some challenge problems are mixed into the set that ask the students to change the set to match a given ratio (how many shapes would you need to add to make the ratio of--).
In my classroom, I usually run multiple sets of the cards and have kids work in pairs to solve the problems while I work with another group. The cards could also easily work as a math center. An added advantage that I've found this year as I've used many sets of cards like this is that they can easily be sent home for kids who are absent or just need extra practice.
This is an 8-page PDF file that contains 24 task card ( 4 per page for 6 pages), a 1-page recording sheet, and a 1-page answer key.
