This activity and project is perfect for teaching how to identify the audience. Students are given four different texts on the same topic to analyze (i.e., read, Socratic Seminar, write essays). This activity then lends itself to writing process papers with two different intended audiences. I've used this for years from 9th graders to college students. It's perfect for CTE so future auto mechanics, medical personnel, building contractors, etc., learn how to communicate with their customers, patients, and clients, as well as colleagues in their field. (Included are specific documents for CTE.) The first part of the project is also perfect for Common Core, AP Language, SAT.
